4. DEVON WINE SCHOOL
Devon fizzes vs the Rest of the World. The traditional Wine Week competition in which Master of Wine Alastair Peebles and colleagues from the Devon Wine School blind taste Devon's top fizzes against the competition...In the 3rd Devon Wine Week New Zealand fizzes came on top - but Devon sparklers ran them close. With another 4 years to learn, how much progress have fizzes from Sharpham, Yearlstone, Pebblebed, Kenton and Eastcott & others made?
Results will be announce after lunch. Day to be arranged. Open to press but no public.

Come along to the first (and hopefully annual) Castlewood Wine Festival to be held at the vineyard nestled beneath the ancient hill fort of Musbury Castle.
The festival will include vineyard tours, guided tastings throughout the day with local wine producers, Pebblebed, English Oak Vineyard and Lyme Bay Winery. There will be live music from 3 local artists continuing until midnight and culinary delights including a wood fired hogroast.

Open from 12 noon to 5pm with a guided tour of the vineyard and orchards at 3pm (£5 pp) which will include a welcoming glass of wine or home-grown apple juice.
Visitors will get the chance to see and learn how grapes are grown in the UK and taste the quality of our award winning wines. We also have over 100 exotic fruit and nut trees to sample in season.
Other open days are 3rd June, 8th July, 5th August, 2nd Sept and 23rd Sept.
The vineyard is at Little Ashley (BA15 2PW) which is on the road past the Dog and Fox in Bradford on Avon or along the road to Ashley opposite the Cumberwell Golf Course. |

Bothy Vineyard will be celebrating English Wine Week by opening its grounds to the public on Saturday 9 June and Sunday 10 June, from 10am to 4.30 pm.
Free 1 hour tours will be run at 11 am and 3 pm on each of these days – no need to book.
Tutored tastings of our new vintage will be available free of charge all day with cheese and biscuits.
Visitors are also welcome to picnic in the grounds. Children and dogs (both kept under control) are welcome, all at your own risk: vineyards are active farms with all the attendant hazards from farm equipment to rabbit holes.
We are also proud to be sponsoring the Appleton, Eaton and Besselsleigh, as well as the Marcham Jubilee Celebrations. Bothy will also be showing its wines off – free tasting – in Marcham on 3 June at Manor Farm from 12 – 2, as part of the Jubilee Farm Open Day.

To celebrate the Jubilee and Engllish Wine Week, Furleigh Estate are holding a Fish and Fizz event at the vineyard. Steve Pielesz, chef at the lovely Bridge House Hotel, will be cooking up probably the best fish and chips you have ever tasted. To go with this, Furleigh Estate are releasing a special sparkling rose called Jubilee Rose. Tours of the vineyard and winery will be held throughout the afternoon.
